SoFi Stock Moves Higher: What’s Going On?

SoFi Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:SOFI) shares are climbing Wednesday as traders position ahead of earnings due next week, days after the stock slid to a 52-week low.

SoFi Rebounds From 52-Week Low Ahead of Earnings

Last week was rough for SoFi. On Oct. 15 the stock bottomed at $13.86, its lowest level in a year and less than half the $32.73 it commanded on Nov. 12, 2025. Now buyers are returning, and investors appear to be building positions before the Oct. 27 report. Wall Street models earnings of 17 cents a share on roughly $1.26 billion of sales.

The chart still shows damage. SoFi also lags three key trend lines, its 20-day, 50-day and 200-day moving averages, which means the long-term trend is still negative. Buying has lacked conviction too: only about 12.2 million shares changed hands by 11:42 a.m. ET in one recent session, roughly half the usual 23 million.

StoneX Calls SoFi Selloff Overdone

StoneX analyst Mark Palmer began covering SoFi on Oct. 13 with a Buy rating and a $25 price target, two days before the low.

Palmer thinks the market overreacted. SoFi’s shares were down about 40% for the year, yet adjusted net revenue in the second quarter ran more than 40% ahead of last year. Palmer called it SoFi’s strongest quarter ever for new members, deposits, products and profit, and said the stock trades as if each of those were falling. Following its heavy marketing outlays, SoFi should convert its revenue growth into profit, StoneX expects.

Analysts are divided on SoFi itself. Timothy Switzer of Keefe, Bruyette & Woods kept an Underperform rating on Oct. 12 and lowered the price target to $15 from $16. Switzer calculated that higher rates and a larger balance sheet cost SoFi more than $1 billion in the third quarter, before hedges, and raised capital worries linked to fair value accounting.

TD Cowen sits in the middle: it stayed at Hold on Oct. 6, with a slightly lower $17.50 target, down from $18.

SoFi Adds Prudential Term Life to its App

More news today includes a tie-up with Prudential Financial Inc. (NYSE:PRU). More than 15 million SoFi members can now purchase Prudential’s SimplyTerm life insurance inside the SoFi app. SoFi built and runs the digital process, and eligible members can often get covered in minutes with no medical exam or lab work.

SOFI Shares Are Climbing

SOFI Price Action: SoFi shares were up 1.84% at $14.95 at the time of publication on Wednesday, according to Benzinga Pro.
