Evolution Metals & Technologies Stock Surges Friday: What’s Driving the Move?

Shares of Evolution Metals & Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:EMAT) are trading sharply higher Friday afternoon as investors rushed into domestic rare earth and critical minerals plays.

White House Tariffs and Defense Directives Spark Massive Rebound

Friday’s gains follow sweeping trade actions from the Trump administration, including a 100% ad valorem tariff on heavy foreign-made drones and thermal components, alongside aggressive domestic supply chain directives for defense contractors.

As a primary U.S. producer of rare earth permanent magnets, including specialized sintered neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) compositions used in high-performance drone and defense motors, EMAT stands as a direct beneficiary of onshore manufacturing mandates.

The shift in federal trade policy offers strong long-term demand visibility for domestic processors ahead of 2027 Department of Defense sourcing restrictions.

Strategic Leadership Additions Strengthen Onshoring Focus

The price surge also builds on momentum from corporate leadership updates earlier in the week. On Thursday, EMAT announced the appointment of retired U.S. Air Force General Thomas A. Bussiere, former Commander of Air Force Global Strike Command, to its Board of Directors to help guide executive strategy amid expanding national defense initiatives.

Management emphasized that General Bussiere’s vast strategic operational background directly aligns with EMAT’s mission to establish a secure, vertically integrated domestic supply chain for critical materials, supporting the company’s planned expansion toward 10,000 metric tons of annual rare earth magnet production capacity.

EMAT Shares Surge Friday Afternoon
