Pfizer Stock Hits 52-Week High: What’s Going On?

Pfizer Inc (NYSE:PFE) shares are climbing Thursday to a new 52-week high as drugmakers rally broadly. The move comes a week after the FDA approved a Tukysa regimen.

Pfizer Hits 52-Week High as Pharma Rallies

Pfizer stock is trading at its highest point in a year. Shares ranged from $29.69 to $29.88 Thursday, clearing the old 52-week peak of $29.21. It’s worth noting that the 52-week floor sits at $23.62.

Drug stocks are climbing together with the Health Care sector ETF outpacing the broader market. Shares of Eli Lilly shot up 5%, Zoetis followed with a 4.7% rise, Elanco Animal Health was up 4.5% and Takeda Pharmaceutical climbed 4.1%.

Pfizer shares are up 21.8% from a year ago. Moderna posted the biggest 12-month gain among peers at 768.6%, while Zoetis posted the steepest decline at 44.6%. A new fund also drew notice this week. REX Shares rolled out the REX Peptide ETF to give investors a way into peptide-based treatments and related infrastructure beyond Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk.

FDA Approves Pfizer’s Tukysa Regimen

Pfizer also has a recent regulatory win. On Oct. 7, the FDA gave the green light to Tukysa (tucatinib) used alongside trastuzumab and pertuzumab. The three-drug regimen is meant as maintenance therapy after initial induction treatment for adults with HER2-positive breast cancer that is metastatic or locally advanced and cannot be removed surgically.

The approval follows HER2CLIMB-05, a Phase 3 trial. Patients who added Tukysa to trastuzumab and pertuzumab were 35.9% less likely to see their disease progress or to die than patients who added a placebo. Their median progression-free survival was 24.9 months, versus 16.3 months for the placebo group. That is 8.6 more months without the cancer advancing.

Pfizer is due to present data from more than 50 company-sponsored, investigator-sponsored and collaborative research abstracts across its infectious disease pipeline and portfolio at IDWeek 2026, which starts on Oct. 21.
