Cash Tender Offer for Pioneer Natural Resources Notes
Through its wholly owned subsidiary, the Offeror, ExxonMobil sought to purchase for cash any and all of Pioneer Natural Resources’ outstanding $1.1 billion 1.900% Senior Notes due 2030 and $1.0 billion 2.150% Senior Notes due 2031. The offers were made under the terms of an Offer to Purchase dated Sept. 8, and the Offeror expects to purchase all validly tendered and non-withdrawn notes as accepted under those terms.
Exxon Trades Above Every Major Moving Average
Exxon at $164.83 remains in a clear uptrend, holding above every major moving average: the 20-day SMA ($162.80), 50-day SMA ($156.32), 100-day SMA ($151.98), and 200-day SMA ($146.17). That stacked alignment—plus the bullish 20-day SMA above the 50-day and the 50-day above the 200-day—typically signals that longer-term buyers still control the bigger picture.
For momentum, MACD is the cleaner read right now: it’s above its signal line and the histogram is positive, which points to improving momentum versus the prior downswing. In plain terms, that setup suggests downside pressure is easing, even if the stock still needs follow-through to push back toward recent highs.
Recent turning points help frame the current range: the stock put in a swing low in June, then rallied into a swing high in August, after hitting its 52-week high in March. With price still about 2% above the 20-day SMA and roughly 13.6% above the 200-day SMA, the chart is extended enough that traders often prefer pullbacks to support rather than chasing strength.
- Key Resistance: $168.50 — a nearby ceiling where rebounds can stall, sitting just below the upper end of the recent trading zone
- Key Support: $155.50 — a key “line in the sand” area that sits near the broader uptrend’s pullback zone and not far above the 50-day SMA ($156.32)
