- Serve Robotics shares are climbing with conviction. Why is SERV stock surging?
Serve Robotics Stock Rises After Earnings Beat and Higher Guidance
Serve Robotics shares are climbing after the sidewalk delivery robot company topped Wall Street’s third-quarter forecasts. Sales reached approximately $2.84 million, far above the rough $1.65 million analysts expected, and roughly quadrupled from $687,000 a year earlier, a 312.66% leap.
Serve lost 51 cents a share, less than the 67-cent loss analysts projected, though the loss widened from 40 cents in the year-earlier quarter.
The company also lifted its full-year revenue target to $12 million. That is up from a previous outlook of $9 million up to $10 million, and it sits about 24% above the $9.7 million analysts had estimated. Serve also cut its planned operating spending for the year to $150 million, down from $160 million to $170 million, on an adjusted basis.
CEO Ali Kashani said “Serve is getting stronger on every front,” citing rising demand, a fleet that costs less to run and new ways to earn money. CFO Brian Read called the period a test of execution. Operating costs fell, Read noted, and fleet margin improved by over 100 points from the second quarter.
Serve Robotics Expands Delivery, Healthcare and AI Services
Sales tied to branding climbed almost 80% from the second quarter, and recurring revenue now supplies 69% of the quarter’s total. For new delivery partners, daily deliveries tripled, and the merchant count grew 2.5-fold. Serve opened its first overseas market, in Australia, during October.
In healthcare, Serve renewed 12 hospital customers for multiple years and added four more hospitals so far this year. The company also introduced Serve Physical AI Services, which opens the technology behind its fleets to other robotics companies, a new revenue opportunity, Kashani said.
Serve ended September with $198.0 million of cash plus marketable securities and about 88 million shares outstanding.
