Cryptocurrency punters are hiking the odds of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s impeachment as pressure builds over alleged war crimes in the Iran war and abuse of power.
What’s Happening on Prediction Markets?
Polygon (CRYPTO: POL)-based Polymarket currently price in a 18% chance that Hegseth is impeached on or before Dec. 31, up from 6% the week before.
Similarly, odds of an impeachment by March 31, 2027 rose from 38% to 56% in a week.
A simple majority vote i.e, more than 50% of House members present and voting, is required to pass the articles of impeachment. After that, the case moves to the Senate for a trial, where a two-thirds majority vote is required for conviction and removal from office.

Will Trump Remove Hegseth?
The developments come as Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) indicated he would reintroduce articles of impeachment against Hegseth once Congress returns after the midterms.
Massie introduced articles of impeachment on the House floor in September, accusing him of violating congressional war powers and other constitutional limits, including through the U.S. conflict with Iran.
Earlier this month, the Kentucky Republican urged Trump to fire Hegseth before lawmakers vote on impeachment articles, adding, “It’s the honorable thing to do.”
Trump has stood firmly behind Hegseth, hailing him as “a very good guy” who’s doing a “fantastic” job.
