Marjorie Taylor Greene Questions Trump’s Ilhan Omar Deportation Push: ‘How Is This Going to Bring Gas Down Under $2?’ — Faces Reminder of Her 2024 Move to Censure Omar

Former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene questioned whether targeting Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), also a critic of President Donald Trump,  would address Americans’ concerns about fuel, health care, and groceries.

Greene took to X and said that she and Omar are “far apart policy-wise” but questioned the practical purpose of deportation efforts surrounding her.

“Can someone tell me how pretending to get ready to deport Ilhan Omar is going to bring gas down under $2,” Greene wrote, also citing health insurance, grocery costs and overseas military involvement.

“People are so sick and tired…,” she said in a broader criticism of political priorities.

Inflation Adds to Household Cost Pressures

Greene’s statement came as the consumer-price report showed inflation reaching 3.7% year over year in September, above economists’ 3.6% expectation. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics report, consumer prices rose from 3.4% in the prior period. The hotter reading increased attention on household affordability and potential Federal Reserve policy decisions.

Meanwhile, economist Mark Zandi estimated that the Iran war has increased American household costs by nearly $2,000 since the conflict began in February, adding up to $265 billion nationwide, according to Moody’s Analytics data. He attributed the higher expenses to rising energy costs, military spending, and elevated interest rates.

Omar Faces Citizenship Probe, Deportation Calls

The Trump administration is investigating Omar to revoke her U.S. citizenship and potentially deport her, The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday. Authorities are examining her immigration and citizenship records and have issued more than a dozen subpoenas, including to relatives, seeking grand jury testimony in Minnesota.

The investigation follows a federal search of Omar’s Washington, D.C., home earlier this week by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Omar called it an “outrageous abuse of power” later in a statement.

Notably, Greene’s post came even as the former Georgia Rep. introduced a Censure Resolution on Omar in February 2024, calling her a “foreign agent” working for a foreign country. She even called for Omar’s deportation back then.

“I urge my colleagues to vote to Censure, but I wish I had the votes to expel and deport her,” Greene had written on X.

One X user responded to her latest post, reminding her of the same.
