Biomea Fusion, Inc. (NASDAQ:BMEA) shares are trading lower by almost 19% on Wednesday as investors digest the company’s decision to terminate its proposed public offering.
Why BMEA Stock Is Down After Offering Termination
Biomea Fusion said it has terminated its proposed public offering of securities, pulling back a financing plan that had been on the table.
In an SEC filing on Tuesday, Biomea Fusion updated the anticipated timing for topline results from the company’s ongoing Phase I GLP-131 trial for BMF-650 in obese, otherwise healthy volunteers, which are now expected in October 2026.
Earlier, the data were expected in the third quarter of 2026.
In June, the company announced the addition of an extra cohort to the ongoing Phase I GLP-131 study of BMF-650, to explore a rapid one-step titration (200 mg QD for 1 week, then 400 mg QD for 3 weeks) and to further optimize its weight reduction potential.
BMEA Technical Outlook: Key Moving Averages And Momentum
From a trend perspective, the stock is still holding above its intermediate-term trend lines, trading 7.3% above the 50-day SMA ($1.50) and about 13% above both the 100-day SMA ($1.42) and 200-day SMA ($1.42).
The near-term picture is weaker, though, with price sitting 9.9% below the 20-day SMA ($1.78), a common setup when a bounce is losing steam, and traders start leaning on closer resistance.
Momentum is best read through RSI, which is at 45.63—neutral, but tilted slightly toward “cooling” rather than “overheated.” RSI is a quick way to gauge whether recent buying or selling has become stretched, and this level suggests sellers have the edge without the stock being washed out.
- Key Resistance: $1.50 — a nearby pivot area that also lines up with the 50-day SMA, so failed rebounds often show up around this zone.
BMEA Price Action: Biomea Fusion shares were down 19.12% at $1.37 at the time of publication on Wednesday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
