Global immunology pioneer Argenx SE (NASDAQ:ARGX) on Monday struck a definitive agreement to purchase Forte Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:FBRX) in a substantial all-cash transaction.
Priced at $77 per share, the buyout commands a total equity value of roughly $2.2 billion, signaling a major strategic expansion for the acquiring firm.
The Driving Force: FB102
The core motivation behind this multi-billion dollar acquisition is Forte Biosciences’ primary clinical program, FB102.
The first-in-class anti-CD122 antibody represents a significant addition to the buyer’s pipeline, having already achieved clinical proof-of-concept in treating both vitiligo and celiac disease.
Recently, Forte Biosciences posted favorable Phase 1b data for vitiligo, highlighting statistically significant treatment benefits.
Additionally, the company shared Phase 1b data for celiac disease last year, and the market anticipates Phase 2 results during the second half of this year.
Pipeline-In-A-Product Opportunity
FB102 seamlessly complements the existing antibody-based drug portfolio at Argenx.
By joining current candidates like efgartigimod, empasiprubart, adimanebart, and ARGX-121, this new asset brings a distinct mechanism targeting pathogenic T-cell and NK-cell activity.
Beyond vitiligo and celiac disease, FB102 carries the potential to treat alopecia areata alongside a broader spectrum of autoimmune diseases.

FBRX/ARGX Stock Price Activity: Forte Biosciences shares were up 39.50% at $76.42, and Argenx shares were down 0.95% at $909.50 at the time of publication Monday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
