IonQ Inc. (NYSE:IONQ) stock surged on Monday as investors piled into quantum computing stocks following a major commercial win for industry peer D-Wave Quantum Inc. (NYSE:QBTS).
Other quantum computing names, including Rigetti Computing Inc. (NASDAQ:RGTI) and Quantum Computing Inc. (NASDAQ:QUBT), also traded higher.
The gains came despite weakness across the broader market. The Nasdaq was down 1.09%, the S&P 500 slipped 0.26%, and the Technology sector was the day’s worst performer, falling 2.18%.
The rally followed D-Wave’s announcement of an agreement with AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) to broaden the use of its quantum computing technology across the telecom giant’s network operations.
IonQ Technical Setup Remains Challenging
Despite Monday’s rally, the stock remains below key moving averages. IonQ trades about 14.8% below its 20-day simple moving average, 32.3% below its 50-day SMA and 25.3% below its 200-day SMA. That suggests the latest move is a rebound attempt rather than a confirmed trend reversal.
The area near $42 is the first major resistance level because it aligns with the 20-day SMA and a key psychological price level.
Momentum indicators remain cautious. The moving average convergence divergence (MACD) remains below its signal line, while the histogram is negative. That indicates bullish momentum has yet to fully recover.
Key resistance stands near $42, while initial support is around $30, above the stock’s 52-week low of $25.89.

Wall Street expects the company to report a loss of 60 cents per share, compared with a loss of 70 cents a year earlier. Revenue is projected to rise to $66.49 million from $20.69 million.
The stock trades at about 84.2 times earnings. Analysts maintain a Buy consensus with an average price forecast of $61.88. Recent analyst actions include:
