Dan Ives Says Palantir Is Answering AI’s Biggest Question: Where’s the Money?

The AI industry has spent years selling investors on what the technology could eventually do. Palantir Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:PLTR) is increasingly showing what happens when businesses actually put it to work. Yorkville Ives analyst Dan Ives believes that distinction could make Palantir a blueprint for AI monetization as the industry moves beyond experimentation.

AI Moves Beyond the Hype

Palantir’s third-quarter results offer some compelling evidence. Revenue surged 96% year over year to $2.31 billion, topping the $2.18 billion consensus estimate, while U.S. commercial revenue jumped 148% to $984 million. More importantly, commercial revenue surpassed U.S. government revenue, which came in at $953 million, for the first time in the company’s history.

The shift matters because Palantir has long been associated with government and defense contracts. Its commercial business now represents a bigger growth engine, suggesting its artificial intelligence platform is finding traction beyond its traditional customer base.

Ives sees this as evidence that businesses are moving from testing AI to deploying it across their operations. In his Nov. 2 research note, he said Palantir’s bootcamp-to-production strategy is “scaling well beyond early adopters,” with customers expanding deployments across their organizations.

That is an important distinction in an AI market where companies are spending heavily but still face questions about the financial returns.

The Numbers Behind the AI Payoff

Palantir’s growth is also translating into profitability. Adjusted operating income reached $1.43 billion, representing a 62% margin, while adjusted free cash flow guidance for 2026 increased to $4.8 billion to $5 billion.

Ives said the quarter showed demand “converting into revenue and cash at a pace the rest of software cannot match.” He also pointed to the company’s ability to sustain rapid commercial growth on a much larger revenue base as evidence that demand is building rather than simply being pulled forward.

Management reinforced that confidence by raising its full-year revenue outlook to $8.53 billion, implying 91% growth, up from its previous forecast of 82%. For the fourth quarter, Palantir expects revenue of approximately $2.65 billion, ahead of the $2.46 billion analysts had expected, according to Reuters.

Why 2027 Matters for PLTR Stock

Ives sees 2027 as the “inflection year for AI monetization” and maintains an Outperform rating and $250 price target on Palantir. He expects Wall Street’s 2027 estimates to move higher as the company’s commercial momentum translates into further growth.

For investors, the bigger question is whether Palantir can sustain this pace as its business scales and more software companies compete for enterprise AI spending. Its latest results offer a compelling case that AI can generate meaningful revenue and cash, but expectations are also rising. The next test will be whether customer adoption continues translating into expanding deployments, stronger revenue and durable margins.
