Skybride Capital founder Anthony Scaramucci accused President Donald Trump of ignoring warnings about Iran’s military strategy, arguing that Tehran had anticipated U.S. attacks on its leadership and prepared to continue fighting.
Scaramucci Says Trump Ignored Iran Intelligence
On Monday, in a post on X, Scaramucci criticized an “incurious culture” in America, saying that few people recognized Iran’s “Mosaic Defense Doctrine.”
“When the president was presented with it by his own intelligence team, he dismissed it,” he wrote.
He said Iran had studied the U.S. wars in Afghanistan and Iraq over two decades and anticipated that American forces would target its leadership rather than launch a ground invasion.
“They watched America in Afghanistan and Iraq for 20 years,” he wrote, adding that Iran expected the U.S. to “try to decapitate our leadership.”
Iran’s Mosaic Defense Doctrine Explained
Scaramucci said Iran developed a system of “31 autonomous units,” with multiple layers of command designed to sustain resistance when individual units were attacked.
“The Iranians planned for exactly what happened,” he wrote
He added, “The president dismissed it and led the American military into a major disaster.”
The Mosaic Defense Doctrine is Iran’s decentralized military strategy, designed to allow regional commands and military units to continue fighting independently if senior leaders are killed or central communications are disrupted. The approach makes it harder for an adversary to cripple Iran’s military by targeting its top leadership.
Iranian security chief Mohsen Rezaei said the U.S. had accepted some of Iran’s seven conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz but called Washington’s response “INADEQUATE.”
Iran War Escalation Raises Concerns
On Sunday, Obsidian Risk Advisors Managing Principal Brett Erickson warned that Iran’s continued attacks on vessels made prolonging the war against U.S. interests, saying Tehran was “just taking it EASY on Trump.”
Two vessels were reportedly struck, with two Indian mariners missing after the Petro Dolphin incident.
Last week, the Pentagon reportedly instructed U.S. Central Command to prepare for a possible resumption of major combat operations in Iran, including strikes on nuclear, energy and infrastructure targets.
Trump said the war could end “the nice way or the not-so-nice way,” claiming Iran’s military had been severely weakened and that the U.S. was doing “extremely well.”
Iran, however, warned of a stronger response to future U.S. attacks as the Pentagon reportedly prepared to deploy additional troops, warships, fighter jets and a third aircraft-carrier strike group to the Middle East.
