Why Is Marvell Technology Stock Surging Tuesday?

Marvell Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MRVL) stock climbed nearly 7% Tuesday after the chipmaker laid out ambitious long-term growth targets at its investor day.

The rally also came during a positive session for technology stocks. The Nasdaq gained 0.66%, while the S&P 500 rose 0.67%. The technology sector added about 0.8%.

However, Marvell’s gain far outpaced the broader sector, pointing to company-specific buying following management’s outlook.

Sets Ambitious Long-Term Growth Targets

CEO Matt Murphy said Marvell expects its total addressable market to reach about $400 billion by 2030.

Management also projected roughly $20 billion in total revenue for fiscal 2028. Revenue could then climb to between $70 billion and $90 billion by fiscal 2031.

The targets reinforce expectations that Marvell could remain a major beneficiary of rising spending on artificial intelligence and data center infrastructure.

Marvell shares have gained more than 240% in 2026 as investors price in stronger demand for networking, connectivity and custom silicon. The company’s long-term financial roadmap has added to that optimism.

Technical Analysis

Marvell continues to trade well above its major moving averages.

The stock is about 14.9% above its 20-day simple moving average and 25.6% above its 50-day average. It is also 71.2% above its 200-day moving average.

The 20-day average remains above the 50-day average. In addition, the stock’s October 2025 golden cross continues to support the longer-term bullish trend.

However, short-term momentum is becoming stretched. Marvell’s relative strength index stands at 71.40. An RSI reading above 70 generally signals overbought conditions and can increase the risk of a pullback or consolidation.

Traders may watch $300 as the next major resistance level. Meanwhile, the $244 area could provide support during a pullback.

Analyst Outlook

Marvell trades at a price-to-earnings multiple of about 89.8, reflecting a premium valuation and high expectations for future growth. The stock carries a consensus Buy rating with an average price forecast of $295.12.

Recent analyst actions include Seaport Global initiating coverage with a Buy rating and $270 price forecast on Sept. 23. Morgan Stanley maintained an Equal-Weight rating and raised its price forecast to $268 on Sept. 21. Piper Sandler initiated coverage with an Overweight rating and $270 price forecast on Sept. 10.

Benzinga Edge Rankings

Marvell’s Benzinga Edge scorecard reflects strong momentum and growth but a weak valuation profile.

Its Momentum score stands at 98.84, while its Growth score is 99.57. By contrast, its Value score is just 1.59.

The combination highlights the market’s strong expectations for Marvell’s growth. However, the low Value score also suggests the stock has little room for execution disappointments if growth expectations weaken.

ETF Exposure

Several exchange-traded funds carry sizable exposure to Marvell.

The State Street SPDR NYSE Technology ETF (NYSE:XNTK) has a 6.14% weighting, while the First Trust Nasdaq Semiconductor ETF (NASDAQ:FTXL) has a 7.50% weighting.

The YieldMax Semiconductor Portfolio Option Income ETF (NYSE:CHPY) carries a 5.43% weighting.

Because Marvell represents a meaningful portion of these funds, large ETF inflows or outflows can contribute to trading activity in the stock.

Price Action

Marvell Technology shares were up 6.83% at $289.79 at the time of publication Tuesday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
