Why Is Oklo Stock Gaining Thursday?

Oklo Inc. (NYSE:OKLO) stock rose Friday in premarket trading as investors showed renewed interest in nuclear power stocks. Nasdaq futures rose 0.54%, while S&P 500 futures gained 0.05%.

The move comes after the U.S. House passed the Ratepayer Protection Act. The bill aims to shield residential customers from higher electricity bills by shifting certain power generation and transmission costs tied to surging AI data center demand toward large data centers.

The House vote has put a spotlight on nuclear and advanced reactor developers that could help power energy-intensive AI data centers. Technology companies are seeking reliable electricity sources as they expand AI infrastructure.

Oklo is among the companies drawing attention. It is developing advanced fission power plants to supply reliable, clean energy. Its Aurora powerhouse uses liquid-metal fast-reactor technology and is designed to generate up to 15 megawatts of electricity using fresh or recycled nuclear fuel.
