On Saturday, Sanders criticized Trump’s Iran policy in a post on X, pointing to rising gasoline prices as evidence of the conflict’s economic impact.
“Not only has Trump’s illegal and disastrous war in Iran resulted in thousands of casualties, it is wreaking havoc on the economy,” he said.
He highlighted the national average gasoline price, saying, “The national average gas price has never been above $4 a gallon on Labor Day Weekend. Today, it’s $4.15.”

De Haan said WTI crude had fallen below $80 per barrel and some states were switching to winter gasoline earlier following an EPA waiver.
However, he warned that even if prices dropped below $4, they could still be the most expensive ever for this time of year.
