Why Is Belite Bio Stock Soaring Friday?

Belite Bio Inc. (NASDAQ:BLTE) drew a bullish initiation from Canaccord Genuity, which sees significant upside tied to the potential launch of its lead eye-disease drug, tinlarebant.

Canaccord analyst Whitney Ijem initiated coverage with a Buy rating and a $303 price forecast. That compares with Belite Bio’s September 3 closing price of $171.09.

U.S. Approval And Revenue Projections

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) accepted the marketing application submission. It granted Priority Review to tinlarebant for Stargardt disease type 1 (STGD1), with an assigned PDUFA target action date of February 12, 2027.

Citing physician feedback, analyst Whitney Ijem highlights strong enthusiasm given the high unmet need, oral dosing, and favorable tolerability. Ijem models a 2027 U.S. launch and around $6 billion in U.S. 2033 sales.

Japan represents the next key market, with Sakigake designation and potential approval roughly three months after the U.S. Canaccord conservatively models a 2028 launch and around $700 million in peak sales.

Canaccord views the approximately $5 billion rest-of-world opportunity as upside for now, with progress in additional markets potentially driving further valuation upside.

China’s NMPA has agreed to accept an NDA with priority review, while the U.K.’s MHRA has agreed to accept a Conditional Marketing Authorization application based on interim DRAGON data.

However, filing timelines have not been specified, so Canaccord conservatively excludes these markets from valuation.

Geographic Atrophy Presents Future Catalyst

Ijem also views geographic atrophy (GA) as an upside opportunity. Phase 3 data, expected around the third quarter of 2027, could provide greater clarity and serve as a significant catalyst.

GA represents a multibillion-dollar opportunity, with approximately 1 million U.S. patients, although competition is greater. The analyst awaits Phase 3 results to assess better tinlarebant’s efficacy and management’s plans for the indication.

BLTE Price Action: Belite Bio shares were up 9.63% at $187.56 at the time of publication on Friday. The stock is approaching its 52-week high of $200.00, according to Benzinga Pro data.
