When Nvidia Corp (NASDAQ:NVDA) backs an AI startup, the investment often grabs the headlines. But for Generate Biomedicines, the chipmaker’s biggest contribution goes well beyond capital.
That’s according to Generate Biomedicines co-founder and CTO Gevorg Grigoryan, who says the relationship has evolved into much more than financial backing.
“NVIDIA has unique vantage point on the evolution of computing in general, as well as deep expertise in accelerated computing, from GPU architecture to the highly optimized software and custom kernels that extract the greatest possible performance from it,” Grigoryan told Benzinga via email.
That expertise, he added, has created “valuable technical exchange around our demanding biological workloads and how we can run them more efficiently and at greater scale.”
Rather than simply providing funding, Nvidia is helping Generate tackle one of AI drug discovery’s biggest challenges: efficiently running the computationally intensive models used to generate, evaluate and refine potential medicines.
