Why Is Robinhood Stock Falling on Tuesday?

Robinhood Markets, Inc. (NASDAQ:HOOD) stock traded lower on Tuesday following weaker digital asset metrics and broader market pressure on risk assets. The Nasdaq is down 1.46% while the S&P 500 has shed 0.51%.

The trading platform released its operating data for July 2026 on Wednesday. While equity and options volumes showed solid growth, the platform’s cryptocurrency division faced massive headwinds. Overall crypto notional trading volumes dropped by 62% year-over-year to $10.9 billion.

Market Background Context

On Thursday, Robinhood Ventures Fund II began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker RVII. RVII priced its initial public offering of 8,000,000 common shares of beneficial interest at $25 per share, establishing an initial fund size of $225.5 million prior to sales loads and offering expenses.

Underwriters hold a 30-day option to purchase up to 1,200,000 additional shares, which would raise total capital to $255.5 million. RVII operates as a business development company targeting early-stage private companies.

Critical Levels To Watch for HOOD Stock

HOOD is sitting in a choppy, in-between zone: it’s trading 0.8% below its 20-day SMA ($94.08), 6.2% below its 50-day SMA ($99.47), and 3.6% below its 200-day SMA ($96.76), but still 5% above its 100-day SMA ($88.86).

That mix typically reads as a stock trying to stabilize after a pullback, but not yet reclaiming the trend levels that many swing traders want to see. Momentum is best framed by RSI, which is at 46.84—neutral.

The moving-average structure is also sending mixed signals: the 20-day SMA is below the 50-day SMA (a bearish near-term setup), while the 50-day SMA remains above the 200-day SMA after the golden cross in August. In other words, the longer-term trend backdrop hasn’t fully broken, but the shorter-term tape is still working through overhead supply after the recent swing high in July and swing low in June.

  • Key Resistance: $93.50 — a nearby pivot area just above current price where rebounds can stall quickly
  • Key Support: $93 — a tight, nearby floor that’s being tested as traders look for buyers to defend the area

HOOD Stock Price Activity: Robinhood shares were down 3.17% at $93.19 at the time of publication on Tuesday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
