MoonLake Immunotherapeutics (NASDAQ:MLTX) announced positive Week 16 topline results from its Phase 3 IZAR-1 trial evaluating sonelokimab in biologic-naïve adults with active psoriatic arthritis.
Following the announcement, the stock fell over 6%.
Phase 3 IZAR-1 Trial Key Results
The Phase 3 trial successfully met all primary and secondary clinical endpoints at Week 16 for the 60 mg sonelokimab treatment arm with induction.
A total of 42.1% of biologic-naïve participants achieved the primary endpoint of an American College of Rheumatology 50 response.
Secondary clinical endpoints demonstrated broad efficacy across musculoskeletal and physical outcomes, with 66.5% of patients achieving an ACR20 response and 41.2% attaining Minimal Disease Activity.
Multidomain Efficacy And Safety
For patients exhibiting concomitant skin involvement, 61% reached a Psoriasis Area and Severity Index 90 response at Week 16.
Patients also showed clinically meaningful improvements in quality of life, recording a mean baseline change of -0.427 in HAQ-DI and a 6.54 score in the SF-36 Physical Component Summary.
Blinded safety data remained consistent with previous clinical studies, showing no new safety signals and a low dropout rate.
Program Timeline And Financial Status
The IZAR-1 trial will remain blinded and run through Week 52, with a comprehensive readout expected in the first half of 2027.
Meanwhile, enrollment for the companion IZAR-2 trial in TNF-refractory patients is slated for completion in the third quarter of 2026.
These trial outcomes set the stage for sonelokimab to target another multi-billion dollar indication after hidradenitis suppurativa.
From a financial perspective, the biotechnology company reported holding $537.0 million in cash, cash equivalents, and short-term marketable debt securities as of June 30, 2026.
The company anticipates that this capital reserve will be sufficient to support its operational expenses and capital expenditure requirements into mid-2028.
