Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) shares are pulling back Tuesday. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos revealed plans to unload a substantial block of shares, casting a shadow over a stock that had been building meaningful upward momentum heading into the session.

Bezos Moves to Sell Approximately $4 Billion Worth of Amazon Stock
A Form 144 submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday disclosed that Bezos intends to part ways with 15 million shares of Amazon common stock.
The filing placed the total value of the proposed transaction at roughly $4.07 billion based on the prevailing market price at the time of submission. Those shares amount to a relatively small slice of Amazon’s total outstanding count of more than 10.78 billion but the headline figure is large enough to command attention, especially coming from Bezos.
The shares being sold traces back to the company’s founding, having been acquired by Bezos on July 5, 1994, and classified in the filing as founder stock. Bezos had made no reportable sales of Amazon securities in the 90 days preceding the disclosure.
Amazon capped a blockbuster week last week by vaulting past a $3 trillion market cap for the first time after its July 30 earnings blew past estimates on record quarterly revenue of $200.6 billion, up 20% year-over-year, and AWS growth of 37%, the cloud unit’s fastest expansion in 18 quarters.
The stock sale from Bezos put a cap on the earnings momentum, which stands out against a broader market grinding to fresh highs, leaving Amazon’s dip as a rare patch of red in an otherwise green tape.
Amazon Stock: Key Technical Levels to Watch
Amazon’s trend remains solid. The stock is 12.6% above its 20‑day SMA and 18.2% above its 200‑day SMA, keeping the longer‑term uptrend intact. The 20‑day sits above the 50‑day, and the May golden cross (50‑day above 200‑day) continues to support a bullish structure.
MACD shows improving momentum. It’s above its signal line and the histogram is positive, which signals easing downside pressure and buyers regaining control even as price pulls back.
With price at $279.13 and the 52‑week high at $287.20, Amazon is still trading near the top of its range, so a down day can simply be profit‑taking near a prior peak.
- Key support: $225.00 — This is the nearest meaningful demand zone. Buyers previously stepped in here, making it the logical downside checkpoint if momentum fades.
