Rocket Lab Corp (NASDAQ:RKLB) shares are trading higher on Monday as risk appetite improves across equities and investors react to fresh contract momentum in the company’s launch business.
- Rocket Lab stock is charging ahead with explosive momentum. Why are RKLB shares rallying?
Rocket Lab’s Recent Contract Wins
Rocket Lab secured three additional dedicated Electron launches for Institute for Q-shu Pioneers of Space Inc with missions scheduled to begin in late 2027 from Launch Complex 1. The deal brings iQPS total contracted Electron missions to 18 and includes Rocket Lab’s Motorized Lightband separation system to help streamline deployment and reduce scheduling risk.
Each of the three missions is slated to deploy one QPS-SAR satellite into a 575-kilometer low Earth orbit, extending Rocket Lab’s role in scaling iQPS’ all-weather, day-or-night imaging constellation. Rocket Lab has already deployed seven QPS-SAR satellites since 2023, reinforcing the repeat-customer signal traders tend to reward.
Rocket Lab is also coming off a separate U.S. Space Force award worth $266 million for 12 suborbital launches, with missions expected to start no earlier than the end of 2026 and run through Dec. 31, 2028. The contract includes options for six additional HASTE missions (up to 18 total), adding upside tied to follow-on demand.
Key Earnings Tests: SpaceX Reports Tuesday, Rocket Lab Follows August 10
Beyond individual contract wins, space investors are also watching the broader market backdrop this week as the space sector faces a key sentiment test with SpaceX earnings confirmed for Tuesday after the closing bell.
Looking ahead, a major catalyst for RKLB is the company’s upcoming quarterly earnings release and operational update on Aug. 10. Wall Street will likely be hyper-focused on execution timelines for its newly expanded backlog, as well as critical progress updates on the development and testing of its medium-lift Neutron rocket.
