Super Micro Computer Inc. (NASDAQ:SMCI) stock was little changed Friday as investors paused after the stock’s nearly 25% rally earlier this week. The broader market was mixed, with the Nasdaq down 0.80% and the S&P 500 up 0.23%.
The consolidation followed Thursday’s sharp advance after the company released a business update on Tuesday. Super Micro said fourth-quarter revenue is expected to come in near the low end of its previously guided range of $11 billion to $12.5 billion.
However, investors focused on stronger-than-expected preliminary gross margin guidance of 15% to 17%, up from the previous 8.2% to 8.4% range, as well as more than $60 billion in new AI infrastructure orders.
Technical Analysis
SMCI is trading 12.7% above its 20-day simple moving average of $27.73. That signals the recent rebound remains intact. However, the stock is still 4.6% below its 50-day SMA of $32.76 and 6.7% below its 200-day SMA of $33.48. Those levels continue to weigh on the intermediate trend.
The longer-term picture remains challenging. The stock formed a death cross in December 2025, when the 50-day SMA fell below the 200-day SMA. That pattern often turns rallies into selling opportunities until longer-term resistance is reclaimed.
Momentum is improving. The MACD remains above its signal line, and the histogram is positive. That suggests selling pressure is easing. The next test for bulls is whether the stock can break above the 50-day and 200-day moving averages after forming a swing high in June and a swing low in July.
- Key resistance: $36.50, a pivot level above the 200-day moving average where rallies could stall.
- Key support: $25.50, a previous demand zone that sits above the 52-week low of $19.48.
Earnings And Analyst Outlook
The next major catalyst is the company’s earnings report, scheduled for Aug. 11, 2026.
Wall Street expects earnings of 69 cents per share, up from 41 cents a year earlier. Revenue is projected to reach $11.73 billion, compared with $5.76 billion last year.
The stock trades at about 16.4 times earnings. Analysts have a consensus Hold rating and an average price forecast of $34.22. Recent analyst actions include:
- Mizuho maintained Neutral and lowered its price forecast to $34 on July 23.
- Rosenblatt maintained Buy and raised its price forecast to $45 on July 22.
- Barclays maintained Equal-Weight and raised its price forecast to $38 on July 22.
SMCI Stock Price Activity: Super Micro Computer shares were down 0.54% at $31.03 at the time of publication on Friday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
