Factorial Energy Inc. (NASDAQ:FAC) is in focus today, a day after making its Nasdaq debut following the completion of its SPAC merger with Cartesian Growth Corporation III.
What Is Factorial Energy?
Factorial is a Boston-based solid-state battery developer with ambitions that stretch well beyond electric vehicles. The company is targeting defense and aerospace, hyperscale data centers, drones, robotics, and e-mobility as its core markets — positioning itself as a next-generation energy company rather than a pure EV play. CEO Siyu Huang has framed the company’s mission simply: “We built Factorial to solve one of the hardest problems in energy — making solid-state real at scale.”
The Deal
Factorial completed its business combination with Cartesian Growth Corporation III on June 8, implying an equity value of approximately $1.3 billion and raising more than $100 million in gross proceeds to fund commercialization. Cantor Fitzgerald served as exclusive financial advisor and sole placement agent for the PIPE. The company will ring the Nasdaq Opening Bell on June 17.
Who’s Behind It
The company enters the public markets with a roster of partners and backers that few pre-revenue battery companies can match. On the automotive side, Factorial has partnerships with Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, Hyundai, and Kia. Last September, Mercedes drove a modified EQS over 745 miles on a single charge using Factorial’s solid-state cells — a result Mercedes’ tech chief called a potential “gamechanger” for electric vehicles. The company has also secured a strategic investment from In-Q-Tel, the investment arm of the U.S. national security community, and has established partnerships with drone integrators across three continents. The board includes Dieter Zetsche, former Chairman of Daimler and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars, and Joe Taylor, former Chairman and CEO of Panasonic North America.
